American Humane

American Humane is the first national humane organization in the United States, founded in 1877. The organization is dedicated to ensuring the welfare and well-being of animals through science-based, innovative programs. American Humane is involved in rescue operations and provides assistance to animals in crisis, such as during hurricanes. They promote the connection between humans and animals, particularly through programs like providing service dogs to veterans. As a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, American Humane relies on donations to fund its rescue and welfare efforts.
