Business Intelligence Director

• Collaborate with senior team leaders and peers to understand business data and information requirements
• Create new or modify existing reports and dashboards
• Provide subject matter expertise in data and reporting
• Direct and control activities of a broad functional area through department managers
• Work with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives
• Develop organized reports, dashboards, and data visualizations for business awareness and decision-making
• Design and maintain workflows to automate data ingestion, validation, and report delivery
• Develop new reports and information processes
• Perform market, economic, demographic, financial, and competitive analysis
• Develop support documentation and training for system users and administrators
• Conduct phone and personal interviews to gather information
• Prepare surveys and focus group analyses
• Oversee analysis of competitive venues and marketing opportunities
• Develop detailed financial models
• Evaluate funding and return-on-investment metrics
• Conduct market research and financial analysis for projects
• Research convention, sports, and entertainment industry trends
• Interview facility managers to assess facility performance
• Design and implement surveys for event organizers, show promoters, and venue managers
• Develop comparative analyses between proposed facilities and existing facilities
• Meet with clients onsite and conduct field research
• Implement proprietary models to forecast financial operations and economic and fiscal impacts
• Develop facility recommendations, demand projections, and financial forecasts with senior staff
• Maintain and enhance the database and industry contacts
• Perform other duties as required
• Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from a four-year college or university and 10+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous management experience
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, with an emphasis on managing and meeting deadlines
• Highly proficient writing, telephone, and internet research skills
• Business savvy in client interactions
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Excellent analytical skills
• Self-starter
• Proficiency in interactive dashboards and enterprise reports using Microsoft Power BI
• Proficiency in DAX and writing complex measures, calculation and filter contexts, and time intelligence
• Strong SQL programming skills for querying, aggregating, and manipulating data in relational databases such as Snowflake, SQL Server, or Azure Synapse
• Knowledge of data modeling principles, specifically designing highly optimized star schemas
• Proficiency in Power Query/M language for data ingestion and cleansing
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines such as Azure Data Factory or dbt
• Knowledge of cloud data platforms
• Microsoft Power BI Service administration, app workspaces, and deployment pipelines
• Experience with data sources including Salesforce, SAP, Excel/CSV, REST APIs, and Jira
• Experience with data warehouses including Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse, and SQL Server
