Senior Backend Developer – Agents

• Build and improve Inbox Agents, autonomous agents triggered by new activity within tickets
• Build templates that customers can use to train Inbox Agents
• Design escalation behavior so agents know when to involve a human
• Ensure agents follow defined processes
• Work on Harness Engineering, including system prompts, skills, and more than 100 agent tools
• Improve the custom knowledge base and its search through tools, system prompts, or skills
• Develop voice agents on LiveKit for phone calls
• Select appropriate LLMs, cache and stream responses to reduce latency
• Implement retries for provider failures and compact context
• Optimize RAG search and track usage across providers
• Reduce LLM costs and run evaluations to measure improvements
• Work with the TypeScript, Convex, Next.js, React, Tailwind, shadcn/ui, Vercel AI SDK, and Convex Agent Component stack

• Fluent in English
• More than 2 years of experience building AI-native agents for production
• Have shipped agentic features that real users rely on
• Have informed opinions on retrieval, evaluations, tool design, and where today’s frontier models break down
• Builder-first mindset, with a willingness to ship a rough v1 quickly
• Stay up to date with new AI models and research
• Write almost all code with AI
• Comfortable working autonomously and taking full ownership of tasks
• Perform well under pressure
