Medical Science Liaison

• Serve as a non-promotional, field-based scientific expert in neurology
• Support AbbVie’s medical and scientific objectives across the product life cycle
• Build and maintain professional relationships with external experts and healthcare professionals across assigned territory
• Conduct peer-to-peer scientific dialogue and exchange on AbbVie products, disease states, and research
• Deliver scientific presentations addressing medical or scientific knowledge gaps
• Collect and report field intelligence, including competitor information, new developments, and educational activities
• Engage investigators in AbbVie clinical studies, including investigator identification, study initiation training, and scientific information support
• Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific, medical, and off-label information
• Support named-patient or compassionate-use medicine access requests when requested
• Facilitate research and educational initiatives in academic centers
• Ensure activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and AbbVie policies
• Maintain current scientific expertise in products, therapeutic areas, disease states, and the competitive landscape
• Develop and execute territory external-expert engagement plans with internal colleagues
• Collaborate with in-field teams and serve as a scientific resource to internal functions
• Deliver scientific training for sales, marketing, and brand teams
• Attend scientific meetings and congresses and prepare summaries of key data

• Advanced degree in health sciences or clinical discipline required
• Doctorate-level degree (PharmD, MD/DO, or PhD)
• Candidates with an undergraduate degree and significant relevant experience may be considered
• Greater than or equal to 2 years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry-related experience or equivalent strongly preferred
• Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs preferred
• Experience in a Medical Science Liaison or similar role with proven success preferred
• Ability to interpret clinical data and communicate key aspects of data and impact to practice/patients
• Ability to quickly learn new subject areas and environments
• Experience developing and maintaining expert knowledge in the assigned therapeutic area and medical research
• Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills in the local language and English preferred
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a matrix environment
• Robust understanding of the local healthcare environment
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to travel frequently within the stipulated geographical area and occasionally nationally/internationally
