Platform Engineer – GitLab, Automation

• Administer, securely operate, and continuously enhance a central self-managed GitLab instance (on-premises)
• Plan and implement updates, patches, and security measures
• Review release notes and assess potential breaking changes
• Automate installation, configuration, and operational processes using Ansible/AWX, Python, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• Integrate core platform components into existing system landscapes
• Continuously develop an internal self-service portal
• Support the ongoing development of automated build, test, and deployment processes using GitLab CI/CD and container technologies
• Analyze and resolve incidents and handle complex operational and support requests
• Provide technical support to development teams for GitLab, CI/CD, automation, and platform integration

• Several years of professional experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or operating complex IT platforms
• Hands-on experience administering and operating GitLab, ideally in self-managed or on-premises environments
• Knowledge of fundamental GitLab architecture
• Excellent knowledge of Ansible/AWX and Python
• Experience with Bash/shell scripting
• Proficiency with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Experience in application development, ideally with Node.js and Angular
• Experience with Git and artifact repositories
• Experience administering complex IT systems, particularly updates, patching, troubleshooting, and automating operational processes
• Structured and self-directed approach to work
• Confident communication within technical teams
• German language skills at C1 level
• English language skills at B2 level
