Senior Quality Engineer – Checkout & Payments

• Define and implement risk-based test coverage for critical checkout and payment flows
• Align test scope, existing coverage, and gaps with Product and Engineering
• Develop and maintain automated tests using TypeScript, Playwright, and API and integration testing
• Test the storefront, Shopware, the payments service, and integrations with payment providers
• Validate order creation, payment statuses, amounts, and currencies
• Cover scenarios for cancellations, captures, refunds, webhooks, and recovery
• Test authentication, tenant isolation, repeated requests, idempotency, and asynchronous status changes
• Ensure that failures do not result in duplicate payments or inconsistent orders
• Integrate and maintain product tests in CI
• Improve test data, repeatability, and diagnostic capabilities
• Distinguish between product defects, payment provider or environment issues, and flaky tests
• Validate releases, upgrades, release artifacts, and supported configurations
• Turn incident learnings into regression tests and concrete improvements
• Communicate QA recommendations regarding scope, results, risks, blockers, and next steps
• Review test code, work in pairs, and improve shared fixtures and documentation
• Coordinate test coverage with other Quality Engineers

• Experience developing and maintaining automated tests for production software, including API, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Excellent programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or a comparable framework
• Comfortable working with a Playwright-based codebase
• Experience with CI pipelines, Git, code reviews, reproducible test environments, and troubleshooting using logs, traces, and application code
• Understanding of HTTP APIs, authentication, asynchronous processing, and state transitions
• Ability to translate unclear product requirements into testable, risk-based scenarios
• Clear spoken and written communication in English
• Experience working directly with developers and product colleagues on quality risks and release decisions
• Experience with payment providers, e-commerce, or financial transactions is a plus
• Knowledge of PHP/Symfony, Shopware, OpenAPI-based API contract testing, containerized environments, or multi-tenant services is welcome
• Experience with AI-assisted development and testing tools is welcome
• Shopware or PayPal knowledge is not required
