Senior AI Application Engineer (all genders)

• Own the end-to-end development of AI tools and features, from problem understanding and discovery through build, launch, and iteration
• Develop and operate AI-powered internal products, tools, and workflows
• Identify operational leverage points and rapidly implement pragmatic solutions
• Design and implement LLM-based workflows, including tool calling/agents, error handling, fallbacks, and cost and latency optimization
• Build code-based frontends and tool architectures
• Develop testing strategies; handle bug triage, monitoring/observability, releases, and incidents
• Integrate internal and external systems via APIs
• Establish feedback loops with stakeholders and end users, and structure and prioritize requirements
• Build RAG and knowledge setups, including data and document preparation, retrieval quality, and evaluation
• Document decisions and systems through decision logs/ADRs and how-to guides
• Work closely with Business Operations and product stakeholders to ensure alignment, manage expectations, and drive adoption

• Experience developing and operating software and automation solutions with a high degree of ownership
• Ideally, experience with AI/LLM-related products or tools
• Experience with code-based frontend development and architecture
• Strong understanding of prompting, tool calling/agents, RAG fundamentals, evaluation, and guardrails
• Understanding of API design and integrations, including authentication, permissions, rate limits, secrets, and error handling
• Experience with observability/operations, logging, metrics/alerts, release management, and quality management
• Clear architecture, modularity, interfaces, naming/standards, and refactoring as standard practice
• Strong product and business orientation
• Independent, structured approach to work while handling many parallel requests
• Excellent written and spoken German, at least C1 level
• Excellent written and spoken English
