Embedded Software Architect

• Lead the design and implementation of automated testing frameworks for novel medical devices
• Provide strategic guidance for verification and validation of embedded systems and cloud-connected solutions
• Contribute to product concepts and design-for-test strategy in early development
• Lead feasibility studies for new test technologies and workflow integration
• Lead and coordinate V&V activities for medical device software
• Oversee test planning, execution, defect management, tool validation, documentation and audit readiness
• Drive automation strategy, tool selection and modular test framework design
• Develop and maintain test suites across software, GUI and hardware layers
• Ensure quality across SDLC/STLC phases through test planning and traceability
• Mentor teams in automation, coding practices and regulatory standards
• Define standards for code reviews, version control and reusable test assets
• Facilitate workshops and continuous learning initiatives
• Align testing with project goals and timelines through stakeholder and management collaboration
• Collaborate with external partners and manage vendor contributions
• Lead continuous improvement using Agile practices, metrics and modern tools
• Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI/ML for embedded-device and cloud-platform testing
• Plan and organize complex project assignments and milestones
• Research, develop, design and evaluate engineering materials, components, assemblies, processes and equipment
• Develop concepts from initial design through market release
• Direct support personnel and coordinate project activities
• Write and submit patents and technical journal articles
• Maintain detailed research and development documentation
• Interface with senior management on significant matters
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, training and work direction
• Independently exercise judgment and select methods to lead projects to completion

• Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 9+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, debugging, reviewing and testing embedded software
• At least 2 years leading teams of embedded engineers
• At least 6 years of experience in medical device engineering, verification and validation, or related fields
• At least 5 years leading test automation efforts for regulated medical devices
• Comprehensive knowledge of a particular technological field
• In-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies/relationships
• Recognized as an expert in work group and across functions
• Experience working in a quality system environment and complying with governmental regulations
• Ability to work on complex problems requiring in-depth evaluation of various factors
• Broad knowledge of technical alternatives and their potential business impact
• Associate Certified Coach (ACC) ICF certification
• Master's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent (preferred)
• FDA Class II/III experience (highly desirable)
