Staff Software Engineer, L4

• Design and deliver robust, high-scale routing experiences for Twilio Segment’s Data platform/pipelines team
• Ship highly available, high-throughput features using eventual consistency
• Collaborate with engineering and product leads and teams across Twilio Segment
• Support platform reliability and security
• Build and optimize globally available, highly scalable distributed systems
• Act as a team Tech Lead as needed
• Mentor engineers on technical architecture and design
• Partner with application teams to deliver end-to-end customer success
• Design, operate, and maintain complex distributed systems processing several hundred thousand data points per second
• Query petabytes of data for Twilio Segment’s customer data platform

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Hands-on experience with high-scale messaging/streaming systems and processing engines
• 8+ years of experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language
• Strong theoretical fundamentals and hands-on experience designing and implementing highly available, performant, fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Experience with Go, Java, Scala, or similar languages
• Concurrent programming experience and solid understanding of Linux systems and networking concepts
• Experience operating large-scale distributed systems on AWS or GCP
• Experience with message passing systems such as Kafka or AWS Kinesis and/or stream processing systems such as Spark or Flink
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes, EKS, or ECS
• Development productivity practices including AI tooling
• Experience shipping services following CI/CD development practices
• Deep understanding of architectural patterns for high-scale web applications, APIs, high-volume data pipelines, and efficient algorithms
