Senior Software Architect – m/f/d

• Shape the architecture of digital platforms and further develop technical guardrails together with the squads
• Improve code quality, review culture, testing, and maintainability
• Take on concrete development tasks and work flexibly across the squads
• Participate in functional and technical analyses, solution discussions, and merge request reviews
• Support developers through coaching and mentoring
• Act as a technical sparring partner for architecture, design, and implementation
• Lead key technical decision-making processes across team and system boundaries
• Document outcomes transparently and traceably in Architecture Decision Records
• Provide technical advice to the Director, Lead Software Engineering, and adjacent roles and teams
• Clearly explain the impact of technical decisions, risks, and required action
• Identify, assess, and transparently communicate technical risks and technical debt, and ensure they are addressed

• Several years of in-depth experience developing complex web applications and distributed software systems based on Java and Spring Boot
• Proven experience in software architecture, solution design, and evolving existing system landscapes
• Ability to analyze technical issues systematically, weigh solution options and their consequences, and drive sound decisions
• Ability to work independently and clearly explain, document, and advocate for technical decisions to a variety of stakeholders
• Practical experience with architectural principles, modularization, HTTP, REST, API contract design, and distributed architectures such as microservices or self-contained systems
• Excellent understanding of engineering excellence, particularly code quality, review culture, maintainability, and sustainable management of technical debt
• Strong hands-on mentality and willingness to continue actively developing software
• Enjoyment of coaching developers, sharing knowledge, and leading technical discussions constructively
• Previous experience in e-commerce and highly available web platforms is a plus
• Experience with modern frontend architectures and frontend/backend integration, such as Next.js, is a plus
• Experience with asynchronous communication and event-driven architecture, such as Kafka, is a plus
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern DevOps environments is a plus
• Experience with GitLab, Git, and professional merge request and review practices is a plus
• Experience with Architecture Decision Records or comparable methods is a plus
• Experience with AI-assisted software development and, where applicable, Spec-Driven Development is a plus
