Senior Engineer – Bridges

• Provide support and assistance to the Technical Director on public transport structures schemes
• Lead bridge engineering projects from quotation through handover
• Lead a team and produce technically sound engineering solutions
• Undertake design development, structural assessments, Principal Inspections and Special Inspections
• Prepare feasibility and other technical reports
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation for scheme deliverables
• Oversee junior staff and take responsibility for their work
• Contribute to the professional development of junior staff
• Liaise with clients and suppliers, attend progress meetings, and respond to queries
• Manage a small locally based single-discipline technical team and its workload
• Contribute to bids and work-winning activities
• Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team
• Work on local Dublin projects and support initiatives in Ireland and the UK remotely

• Developed experience and expertise within Structures field, probably gained in an Engineer role or equivalent
• Comprehensive knowledge of structural design processes and procedures
• Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions complying with relevant technical standards and Client’s requirements
• Ownership of preparation and checking of deliverables
• Very good working knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools, e.g. LUSAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design
• Good commercial awareness
• Understanding of Safety, Health & Welfare and risk assessment
• Substantial experience managing and communicating hazards and risks on projects
• Understanding of interface management
• Incorporated or Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE or IStructE, or equivalent professional licence, desirable and potentially essential on particular contracts
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning
