Senior Software Engineer – Exposure Analysis, Response

• Build backend systems and infrastructure for Akamai ExAR, a cloud-based threat-hunting and segmentation service
• Own backend and data-platform capabilities from design through production
• Build a security product protecting millions of assets worldwide
• Own technical decisions and delivery from requirements and design through testing, rollout, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Build and improve LLM-powered workflows, evaluating output quality, handling failures, and balancing accuracy, latency, and cost
• Improve SQL performance, data models, orchestration, and cloud cost efficiency across a multi-customer, multi-region platform
• Use AI assistants and agents for development, investigation, testing, and documentation; validate outputs and remain accountable for results
• Partner with Security Research, Product, and R&D teams
• Mentor engineers, review code and designs, and strengthen testing, observability, and engineering practices

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Good Python skills
• Experience owning production backend or data systems
• Deep SQL and data-modeling skills
• Experience diagnosing and optimizing complex queries over large datasets
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms and workflow orchestration
• Experience using GCP, Apache Airflow, and BigQuery or equivalent technologies
• Understanding of reliable pipeline design, including retries, idempotency, API integrations, data quality, and monitoring
• Effective use of AI development tools, including critically reviewing generated code and verifying behavior through tests and evidence
• Ability to resolve ambiguous requirements, explain technical tradeoffs, and collaborate across engineering and security teams
• Nice to have: experience integrating LLM APIs, designing prompts and structured outputs, and evaluating AI workflows
• Nice to have: experience with cybersecurity telemetry, detection pipelines, or products serving multiple customers
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or dashboard and reporting tools
