Senior Software Engineer – API Development

• Analyze, develop, design, and maintain software for organizational products and systems
• Perform software and hardware system integration to maintain throughput and program consistency
• Develop, validate, and test structures and user documentation
• Drive technical API strategy for internal cross-product integrations and external partnership programs
• Design, build, and deploy strategic integrations with third-party applications and services
• Enable ingestion and distribution of data across the product portfolio
• Collaborate with product teams to identify internal cross-product use cases and define API architecture and development
• Contribute to architecture and best practices for developer programs supporting external API partners
• Build and connect technologies that help protect people, property, and places in the public safety sector

• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a significant focus on API development, distributed systems, and enterprise-level integration
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs or similar protocols
• Experience with API lifecycle management, OAuth, API Keys, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and versioning
• Strong hands-on development skills in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Java or C#
• Strong experience with SQL databases such as Postgres or MySQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or CosmosDB
• Excellent understanding of integration patterns, message queues, event-driven architectures, and data transformation techniques
• Familiarity with XSLT for complex data mapping
• Practical experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions
• Experience building and deploying applications in a public cloud environment, with Azure preferred
• Significant experience with Azure API Manager or similar API gateway/management platforms is a major advantage
• Experience with microservices architecture and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
• Experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft (Anypoint Platform) or similar platforms
