Staff Software Engineer

• Design, build, and own low-level systems across Fusion, Fusion Snapshots, Ignite, and Sched
• Write reliable, well-tested code primarily in Go and C, with Rust and JVM technologies where appropriate
• Work with FUSE filesystems, Linux namespaces, CRIU checkpoint/restore, process supervision, signal handling, and static musl builds
• Develop multi-cloud orchestration and scheduling across AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Build provider abstractions, instance selection, autoscaling, spot-instance fault tolerance, and durable asynchronous queues
• Drive performance engineering involving chunked I/O, multi-level caching, buffer pools, and bandwidth management
• Set technical direction and raise standards for testing, observability, and operational excellence
• Mentor teammates and help onboard new engineers
• Support adjacent services including Groundswell and Cloudinfo

• Deep experience building production-grade systems software, with technical ownership at Staff level
• Strong in Go and comfortable in C or C++, close to the operating system
• Solid Linux internals knowledge, including filesystems, namespaces, processes, signals, and networking
• Experience building distributed and/or cloud-native systems
• Understanding of failure modes across multiple clouds
• Ability to write simple, well-structured, well-tested code optimized for clarity and debuggability
• Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity and drive work independently
• Genuine openness to extensive daily use of AI
• Experience with Go and C/C++ building low-level systems software
• Experience with CRIU, checkpoint-restore, process migration, FUSE or filesystem/VFS work, Rust, JVM technologies, container runtimes, Docker internals, Kubernetes, HPC/Batch, applied ML/data engineering, or open-source systems contributions is nice to have
