Design System Designer

• Design and evolve reusable components, patterns and foundations within the design system
• Define component behavior, states and variants in collaboration with engineering
• Run and improve the contribution model for proposing and shipping components
• Support design work from problem framing through documentation and handover
• Create documentation and specifications covering variants, edge cases and usage guidance
• Collaborate with engineers on token strategy and the connection between Figma and production code
• Resolve conflicts between local product needs and long-term system coherence
• Work with product design teams to identify gaps and embed stronger systems thinking
• Use AI-assisted tooling for research, prototyping and component definition
• Structure the system for AI-assisted workflows through tokens, documentation and reusable patterns
• Apply design judgment to evaluate and override AI output when appropriate

• Proven experience designing and maintaining a design system at scale
• Experience running or contributing to a contribution model, or a clear point of view on how to build one
• Strong technical fluency and ability to translate design decisions into code
• Strong judgment regarding consistency versus exceptions
• Strong communication skills and ability to justify design system decisions to stakeholders
• Comfort with AI-assisted tools and interest in applying them to improve speed, quality and consistency
• Portfolio demonstrating strong product and systems thinking with shipped impact
• Experience with Figma, including component libraries, variables and tokens
• Experience with built or coded prototypes
• Experience collaborating closely with engineers
• Experience or strong interest in AI-assisted design or development workflows
