Engineering Manager, DevOps

• Lead the DevOps function across Site Reliability Engineering and Platform Engineering teams
• Own DevOps roadmaps, priorities, commitments, delivery outcomes, dependencies, and execution risks
• Establish planning and execution practices that enable predictable delivery of complex infrastructure initiatives
• Lead operational reliability and longer-term platform development while balancing production needs with strategic improvements
• Manage and develop DevOps engineers, including performance reviews, career development, compensation and promotion input, hiring, team structure, and performance concerns
• Partner with Engineering Managers, Team Leads, and engineers to understand infrastructure needs and resolve systemic problems
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture discussions, technical decision reviews, troubleshooting, and direct contribution to complex problems
• Improve platform availability, resilience, observability, incident response, capacity management, and operational readiness
• Strengthen incident management, root-cause analysis, postmortems, and elimination of recurring operational problems
• Drive initiatives involving Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, observability, scalability, security, and developer experience
• Automate bottlenecks and repetitive operational work to improve engineering productivity
• Evaluate infrastructure architecture, resource utilization, and cloud costs to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Build an AI-driven engineering organization and embed AI into design, prototyping, refactoring, testing, and code review

• Proven experience leading infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering teams while balancing technical leadership, delivery ownership, and people management
• Ability to build realistic roadmaps, break complex technical initiatives into executable work, establish commitments and deadlines, identify risks, and drive initiatives through to completion
• Strong communication skills, including communicating clearly with engineers and leadership, challenging assumptions constructively, explaining technical trade-offs, and creating alignment around priorities and decisions
• Extensive experience building and operating production infrastructure, with technical depth expected from a Senior/Lead/Staff-level DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineer
• Deep production experience with Google Cloud Platform, including GKE, Compute Engine, networking, IAM, DNS, load balancing, and cloud cost optimization
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, networking, ingress, storage, autoscaling, security, cluster lifecycle, and production troubleshooting
• Strong production experience with Terraform/Terragrunt, Helm, and infrastructure automation
• Strong experience designing and operating modern delivery platforms using Argo CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
• Experience operating high-availability production environments, participating in on-call rotations, troubleshooting distributed systems, and leading incident response
• Strong understanding of metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, SLOs, and production monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/ELK, or similar platforms
• Ability to reason about complex distributed systems, understand dependencies and failure modes, and make pragmatic architectural trade-offs across reliability, scalability, delivery speed, and cost
• AI proficiency: comfort working in AI-driven engineering environments and using AI as a primary productivity multiplier
• Nice-to-have experience with SRE and Platform Engineering leadership, high-load real-time distributed platforms, SLOs/SLIs/error budgets, internal developer platforms, Kafka, PostgreSQL/AlloyDB, Redis, FinOps, iGaming, product companies or scale-ups, and Staff/Principal or Architect-level roles
