Engineering Manager – Tech Foundations

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team
• Foster technical excellence, innovation, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
• Build scalable, reliable, and impactful systems driving Airbnb’s growth
• Define and execute technical strategy for trust and safety initiatives
• Develop an AI-driven growth platform supporting supply expansion, sales insights, diverse supply needs, existing host success, and high-quality host acquisition
• Partner with product, data science, design, business, and engineering teams on long-term technical vision, strategy, and roadmap
• Represent the team with global leadership
• Hire, mentor, and lead engineers
• Lead end-to-end project execution across the software development lifecycle
• Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and partners
• Champion reliability, scalability, incident response, and operational readiness
• Stay current on Trust & Safety trends and drive best-practice adoption
• Align India team initiatives with broader global Trust & Safety goals

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Overall 10+ years of industry experience, including 2–5+ years in engineering management
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, and reliable systems
• Strong experience in leading technical strategy and building scalable engineering, data, or machine learning systems
• Expertise in leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI-powered solutions is a strong plus
• Proficiency in at least one major language, such as Java, Python, Go, or Ruby
• Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top-tier engineering talent
• Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience setting multi-year strategies and aligning diverse stakeholders
• Background working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams
• Passion for trust, safety, and positive social impact
• Strong commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within teams
