Lead Developer – Backend, C#/.NET

• Take technical leadership and architectural responsibility for backend applications at Group level, supporting subsidiaries and the development of new Group software
• Analyze the existing system landscape, identify technological potential, and develop scalable, sustainable solution architectures
• Design and implement robust backend components and RESTful APIs using C# and .NET 8+
• Define interface contracts according to the OpenAPI standard
• Integrate diverse data sources and implement event-driven, asynchronous communication using message brokers such as RabbitMQ
• Bring DevOps expertise to the engineering team and take responsibility for applications from development through ongoing operations
• Containerize applications and design Docker images, build processes, and deployment strategies
• Set up and operate Kubernetes deployments in self-hosted or self-managed environments, including scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines to deliver releases automatically, reproducibly, and with quality gates
• Make architecture and technology decisions together with the team and ensure their implementation
• Gradually modernize systems and migrate on-premises solutions to modern platform architectures
• Establish and continuously improve technical standards for code quality, testing, performance, security, and maintainability
• Conduct code reviews, technically assess deliverables, and provide constructive feedback
• Coach developers and support their professional growth
• Analyze complex bugs as well as performance and stability issues, and develop sustainable solutions
• Optimize MySQL and PostgreSQL databases for performance, maintainability, and scalability
• Promote the thoughtful use of Generative AI for refactoring, test cases, documentation, and quality assurance
• Work closely with Product Management and other Group stakeholders to ensure technical value
• Work hands-on in the codebase; this is not a purely managerial role

• Degree or vocational qualification in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable field
• At least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role, such as Lead Developer, Tech Lead, or Software Architect, with technical responsibility for an application or development team
• Excellent knowledge of C# and .NET 8+
• Experience with Entity Framework Core
• Experience with RESTful APIs based on OpenAPI/Swagger
• Strong experience in software architecture, design patterns, Clean Code, and modernizing legacy applications
• Experience with unit and integration testing, such as xUnit
• Experience with static code analysis, such as Roslyn Analyzers
• Practical DevOps experience, including deploying and operating applications
• Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including setting up deployments and operational management
• Experience with self-hosted or self-managed Kubernetes environments is preferred
• Experience with managed setups in larger organizations is an advantage
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools, such as Prometheus and Grafana, is a plus
• Experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers, ideally RabbitMQ
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, including performance optimization
• Experience with Redis or Elasticsearch/OpenSearch is a plus
• Experience with B2B or enterprise applications, data platforms, or business applications handling high data volumes
• Thoughtful and responsible use of AI tools such as Cursor or Claude Code
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly in German and English
• Strong sense of responsibility, decisiveness, and the ability to bring together different technical perspectives
