Technical Leader, Fullstack – Backend Focused

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, establishing best practices, coding standards, and a culture of continuous improvement
• Collaborate with frontend teams, product managers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver scalable technical solutions
• Architect, develop, and maintain reliable backend services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and modern backend frameworks
• Design scalable system architectures supporting high availability, strong performance, security, and zero-downtime deployments
• Drive technical decisions and own the backend roadmap, balancing speed, scalability, and long-term code quality
• Ensure backend reliability and maintainability through testing, monitoring, logging, and incident management
• Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to increase team efficiency, improve developer experience, and enhance the end-user product
• Lead discussions about new technologies and identify opportunities to innovate and evolve the technology stack
• Bridge engineering and product by translating business requirements into robust, scalable backend solutions
• Shape the architecture and future of Axcera’s Forex trading technologies

• 6+ years of experience in Backend Development
• At least 4 years in a lead role
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and backend frameworks such as NestJS or Express.js
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable APIs, services, and distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, data modelling, and query optimisation
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
• Understanding of containerisation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
• Solid understanding of event-driven architecture, messaging systems, and asynchronous processing
• Experience with Apache Kafka is an advantage
• Demonstrated experience with AI tools and workflows and integrating AI into the development process
• Experience leading or mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and setting technical direction
• Good understanding of frontend concepts
• Strong knowledge of software security, testing strategies, observability, and performance optimisation
• Ability to prioritise, adapt, and deliver under pressure without losing sight of quality
