Database Specialist – IDMS

• Administer and provide support for the CA-IDMS DBMS in a High Platform (Mainframe/z/OS) environment
• Ensure the support, availability, security, integrity, and efficiency of databases
• Analyze and propose performance improvements for queries, routines, and database access
• Work across development, testing, and production environments
• Propose data-modeling changes aimed at performance and resource optimization
• Support data architecture initiatives
• Provide technical support to development teams integrating Mainframe applications (CICS, JCL, COBOL) with CA-IDMS
• Perform maintenance, optimization, and monitoring of CA-IDMS databases

• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of the CA-IDMS DBMS
• Knowledge and application of DDL, DML, and DCL commands
• Solid experience in relational data modeling and database performance analysis
• Knowledge of partitioning, optimization, and management techniques for large volumes of data (VLDBs)
• Knowledge of normalization, consistency, and table partitioning
• Knowledge of the IBM z/OS environment and JCL, TSO, IDCAMS, and Sort utilities
• Familiarity with statistics, predictive models, and probabilistic analysis
• Experience integrating with CICS, Enterprise COBOL, and VSAM files
• Knowledge of support, version-control, and monitoring tools in the z/OS environment, such as Endevor, MainView, Strobe, Control-M, Abend-Aid, File-Aid, or similar tools
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a bachelor’s degree in any field accompanied by a postgraduate qualification in IT
