Mid-Level Data Engineer – Ontologist

• Create semantically rich, extensible ontologies, taxonomies, and logical data models
• Ensure subdomain coverage for machine inference
• Optimize Knowledge Graphs and create new schemas using Generative AI
• Develop analytical products with Airflow, DataProc, PySpark, and BigQuery (GCP)
• Apply streaming and batch ingestion patterns based on Data Warehouse principles
• Perform data mapping and lineage, and document information flows
• Identify quality issues and work with business owners to resolve them
• Optimize pipelines and infrastructure for high performance, security, and low cost
• Work in an Agile environment with frequent releases using TDD and CI/CD pipelines
• Coordinate cross-functional projects and communicate knowledge requirements to engineering teams
• Understand complex processes, advocate for well-designed solutions, and stay current with the product domain, AI, and connected services
• Ensure end-to-end product quality

• Proven experience of 2 or more years in Data Engineering, from concept through production operations
• Demonstrated skills in data retrieval and search techniques
• Strong foundation in ontology modeling practices
• Experience building scalable, cost-effective pipelines using Google BigQuery
• Experience with Airflow/Astronomer
• Experience with relational databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server
• Experience with Apache Kafka and GCP Pub/Sub
• Knowledge of Tekton, GitHub Actions, Git/GitHub, Terraform, and Docker
• Experience with project management tools such as Atlassian Jira
• Advanced English proficiency for daily communication with global teams
• Active Google Cloud Platform (GCP) professional certifications are a plus
• A master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science/Data Engineering, or related fields is a plus
