About the role
• Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
• Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
• Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
• Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance
• Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluations to improve sales performance
• Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns and gain calls to action to close sales calls
• Serve customer needs and expectations while building trusted relationships and achieving win-win agreements
• Develop and execute call plans that achieve call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency for key customers
• Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
• Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
• Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers
• Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
• Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
• Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred
• Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, with three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
• High school diploma/GED required when using experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
• Ability to proactively identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach
• Ability to develop sales strategies using customer findings
• Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
• Innovative problem-solving and ability to maximize business opportunities
• In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
• Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
• Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
• Ability to influence others and serve as a credible role model/resource
• Ability to build collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams
• Documented success in leadership/support roles of increased responsibility at district, region, and/or organizational levels
• Proven sales success within respective therapeutic areas preferred
• Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
• English language proficiency verbally and in writing
• Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain them
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
• Ability to drive a personal auto, company car/truck, or powered material-handling equipment
