Estimator, Heavy Civil and Earthwork
About the role
• Perform takeoffs and bid preparation from plans and specifications
• Handle RFIs, submittals, and revisions
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, including persistent follow-up to meet bid deadlines
• Manage pre-construction support and site coordination documentation
• Use Bluebeam, WinX Grade, and Heavy Bid or similar estimating software
• Review complex public bid packages and detailed specifications for compliance
• Perform cost analysis for heavy civil and asphalt paving scopes
• Support site visits or provide effective onsite communication, with client support for site visits when remote
• Take ownership of complex bids from plans and specifications through submission
• Work closely with the established estimating team
• 6+ years of construction estimating experience required
• Civil engineer or construction estimator with 6–15 years of experience
• Strong background in heavy civil, earthwork, and asphalt/paving estimating
• Fluent English, written and verbal, for subcontractor calls
• Proven US construction experience
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, Heavy Bid, or comparable estimating software; training available if needed
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or willingness to learn quickly
• Experience with heavy civil or earthwork estimating; asphalt/paving experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work full-time, 40 hours/week, in the US Eastern Time zone, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
• Comfort managing complex bid coordination and subcontractor outreach
• Excellent communication skills for subcontractor coordination
• Detail-oriented and able to manage complex bid packages and specifications
• Proactive problem-solver comfortable with high-volume, time-sensitive bidding
• Reliable internet and own computer setup
• Ability to work independently in a remote setup
• Remote work arrangement
• Full-time schedule of 40 hours/week
• Training available for Heavy Bid or comparable estimating software if needed
• Independent-contractor flexibility to manage work on your own terms
• Own equipment setup accepted/required for remote work
