Senior Technical Project Manager – GIS, Multi-Sector
About the role
• Lead geospatial client projects from scope through delivery, on time, in scope, and on budget
• Act as the primary contact for governments, donors, and development partners, primarily in Africa
• Conduct workshops and occasional travel to project countries
• Translate partner needs into workplans and technical requirements
• Steer Data Scientists' workstreams, including data collection, validation, and quality assurance
• Ensure deliverables meet client requirements and are usable by end-users
• Report progress through high-quality reports and presentations
• Shape project scopes and proposals with the business team
• Lead projects supporting infrastructure planning across energy, climate, health, and infrastructure sectors in 40+ countries
• Master's degree or equivalent experience in Geospatial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
• 5+ years delivering technical projects for governments and donors
• Experience running client relationships
• Proven leadership of multi-partner projects
• Strong hands-on GIS skills with QGIS and/or ArcGIS
• Working knowledge of Python, R, or SQL
• Working knowledge of cloud workflows such as GCP and BigQuery
• AI-first mindset
• Entrepreneurial approach and willingness to build new processes
• Intercultural communication skills and ability to handle competing priorities
• Professional fluency in English
• Professional working French (C1) is a strong plus but not required
• Willingness to work remotely from Europe or Africa, or from the Munich or Nairobi office
• Occasional travel to project countries
