SEO/AEO Specialist, Part-Time, Freelancer
About the role
• Own technical SEO/AEO optimization of custom travel websites
• Help Web Specialists identify which pages should be built
• Ensure technical SEO practices, structured data, schema markup, AI-bot crawlability, and page speed are implemented during website builds
• Perform final pre-launch checks to ensure websites are ready to go live
• Support the Websites Team with final quality assurance checks
• Guide clients through post-launch handoffs and empower them to manage websites, SEO, and AEO long-term
• Create client-facing SEO/AEO documentation for the knowledge center
• Highlight the SEO/AEO benefits of WeTravel websites
• Conduct keyword research and provide copywriting advice
• Monitor how websites appear in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar AI answers
• Use AI visibility insights to improve website-building practices
• Report directly to the Websites Program lead
• Collaborate daily with SEO Specialists and Web Specialists
• Occasionally answer questions from Account Managers and Customer Support representatives
• 5 years of professional SEO/AEO experience
• 3+ years of experience using Screaming Frog, SEMRUSH, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics
• Comfortable with structured data and schema markup, including FAQ, LocalBusiness, and Event schema types
• Experience with CMS; knowledge of Duda preferred
• Fluent business English
• Excellent client communication skills
• Excellent communication with Website Specialists on SEO/AEO implementation
• Uses AI tools to work faster and more reliably while owning quality
• Knowledge of launching websites and making DNS/domain record changes is nice to have
• Experience working with clients in the travel industry is nice to have
• Exposure to AI-visibility or citation-tracking tools is nice to have
• Fluent business Spanish is nice to have
• Up-to-date knowledge of SEO/AEO/GEO practices and innovations
• Ability to proactively pick up available projects and work in a fast-paced, changing environment
