Team Lead, Android Core Product

• Own major Android features end to end, from decision through release, working closely with Design
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and provide developmental feedback
• Unblock engineers and resolve technical impediments
• Identify reusable implementations and standardize them across the team
• Maintain shared components so they are tested, clear, and consolidated
• Lead changes to team processes
• Reduce manual intervention required for correct releases
• Address recurring problems by changing the underlying setup
• Shift verification left and expand automated checks
• Run planning focused on unresolved decisions
• Define review requirements and approval responsibilities
• Participate in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions
• Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds to QA
• Support early-career engineers with learning-oriented work and mentoring

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on
• Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work
• Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them
• Something you introduced to a team that stuck after you stopped pushing it, and an honest account of what it cost to get there
• Some comfort with asking people to change how they work and handling resulting friction
• Ability to determine which changes need heavy review and which do not
• Track record of building things the rest of the team actually used
• Ability to describe how the team works with AI agents
• Product design intuition, user empathy, and drive to push Android UI/UX beyond the specification
• Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the specification
• Excellent communication skills
