YOUR NEXT CHAPTER
GIS Digitizer, Rice Field Boundary Polygons
About the role
• Develop an accurate, consistent, and quality-controlled geospatial database of rice field and plot boundaries within designated GCF Knuckles Project areas
• Digitize individual rice fields and plot boundaries from designated reference imagery and datasets
• Produce topologically correct and spatially accurate polygon datasets
• Follow ICRAF digitization protocols and standardized attribute structures
• Maintain consistency among multiple GIS operators
• Prepare field-level spatial data for integration with the AgriLook platform and related applications
• Review satellite imagery, Google Earth imagery, cadastral borders, and AI-survey area layers supplied by ICRAF
• Digitize each distinct field as a closed polygon in the specified GIS format
• Populate required polygon attributes
• Cross-check boundaries against ground/field survey points where assigned
• Submit digitized polygon batches according to the agreed schedule
• Correct and resubmit polygons rejected during QA review at no additional cost
• Maintain a digitization log covering area/tile, date, and number of polygons submitted
• Apply digitization standards preventing overlaps, slivers, self-intersections, and duplicates
• Complete automated geometry, topology, CRS/format, and attribute checks
• Incorporate manual quality-review feedback and obtain QA sign-off before batches are accepted and payable
• Qualified GIS digitizer
• Ability to digitize rice fields and plot boundaries from high-resolution satellite imagery, basemaps, Google Earth imagery, cadastral borders, and AI-survey layers
• Ability to produce topologically correct and spatially accurate polygon datasets
• Ability to follow standardized digitization protocols, field delineation rules, topology rules, attribute structures, and project GIS standards
• GIS proficiency with Shapefile, GeoJSON, and GeoPackage formats
• Ability to populate required attributes, including field ID, administrative/GN division, land-use type, source imagery date, and digitizer ID/date
• Ability to apply the specified coordinate reference system (CRS), such as WGS84 / SL national grid
• Ability to perform geometry validity, topology, CRS/format, and attribute completeness checks
• Ability to maintain digitization logs and submit batches through the designated platform/folder structure
• Ability to cross-check boundaries against ground/field survey points where assigned
• Ability to correct and resubmit non-conforming polygons
• Ability to work according to the project's minimum mapping unit and positional accuracy tolerance
• Output-based payment model; batches are payable after QA sign-off and acceptance
• Corrective resubmission of rejected polygons at no additional cost before payment acceptance
