Senior Java Developer – Platform Modernization

About the role

• Re-implement legacy logic from existing Java/Spring code, Oracle schemas, and PL/SQL as clean, tested Spring Boot services
• Build the new cloud-native platform on Azure with PostgreSQL for operations and Databricks for analytics and reporting
• Design and implement Java/Spring Boot backend services across domain, business logic, persistence, and API layers
• Analyze legacy code and re-implement business logic with tests proving behavioural parity
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, JPA/Hibernate mappings, versioned Flyway/Liquibase migrations, and tune query performance
• Implement Oracle-to-PostgreSQL data migration and reconciliation tooling for parallel runs and cutover
• Develop contract-first REST APIs using OpenAPI
• Implement asynchronous integrations and event flows using technologies such as Azure Service Bus and Kafka, including retries, idempotency, and error handling
• Deliver operational-platform data feeds into Databricks in cooperation with data engineers
• Write automated unit, integration, Testcontainers, and contract tests
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Azure deployment across DEV, TEST, and PROD
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting for 24/7 operations
• Participate in troubleshooting and production readiness before go-live
• Collaborate with the Business Analyst/Product Owner on user stories and acceptance criteria
• Conduct code reviews within the team

• At least 5+ years of commercial experience as a Java backend developer, with hands-on coding as the main activity in recent projects
• Strong programming skills in Java 5+, Spring Boot, and the Spring ecosystem
• Solid relational database skills in PostgreSQL and Oracle, including SQL, JPA/Hibernate, schema migrations, and performance tuning
• Ability to read and understand PL/SQL
• Experience working with legacy codebases, including reading, refactoring, and safely migrating existing logic
• Experience building REST APIs
• Experience with asynchronous, message-driven integrations such as Kafka, Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ
• Working knowledge of Azure, including AKS or App Service, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, and Entra ID
• Containerization experience with Docker/Kubernetes
• Strong testing discipline, including unit, integration, and contract testing
• Experience with business-critical, high-availability systems where reliability and correctness matter
• Experience using AI coding assistants or agentic workflows in day-to-day delivery
• Good communication skills in English
