Senior Fraud Prevention Strategy Analyst – Data
About the role
• Serve as the data subject-matter expert for the Fraud Prevention team, translating business needs into queries, analyses, metrics, and monitoring solutions
• Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of data used in risk analyses, monitoring, and reporting
• Develop, maintain, and enhance alerts, metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and risk monitoring panels, tracking trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement
• Analyze monitoring results and propose recommendations to reduce losses, control false positives, and improve operational efficiency
• Support backlog prioritization for data-related initiatives with leadership, considering business impact, urgency, operational capacity, and request volume
• Lead strategic data initiatives related to Fraud Prevention, tracking scope, deliverables, dependencies, and outcomes
• Assess and recommend new metrics, data sources, and monitoring solutions, considering quality, feasibility, cost, and incremental value
• Partner with Product, Data Engineering, Credit, Technology, and other internal teams to implement and enhance data solutions
• Manage relationships with external technology vendors and partners, when applicable
• Represent the data function in internal forums and, when applicable, at fraud, data, and analytics events and communities
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analysis/Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Advanced SQL proficiency
• Knowledge of statistics applied to data analysis, including distributions, hypothesis testing, and anomaly detection
• Professional experience with BI and data tools (Databricks, Metabase, Power BI, etc.), using them to build reports and dashboards
• Experience with fraud prevention metrics and KPIs
• Experience analyzing transactional data to identify suspicious behavior
• Experience developing descriptive, exploratory, and diagnostic analyses
• Experience working at fintechs, in the payments industry, or at other financial institutions, particularly in fraud prevention teams
• Preferred: experience interpreting outputs from rules engines and/or risk-scoring tools
• Preferred: experience implementing and/or maintaining data catalogs using data modeling techniques
• Preferred: experience applying storytelling concepts
