Senior Bookkeeper – MYOB, AU

About the role

• Take ownership of finance operations for two Australian companies, including an e-commerce distribution business and property assets business.
• Maintain daily bookkeeping and general ledgers, including transaction coding, journals, accruals, prepayments, inter-company entries and director or shareholder transactions.
• Complete daily bank, credit card, loan, finance account and petty cash reconciliations, correcting discrepancies with a complete audit trail.
• Manage accounts payable, including invoice matching, supplier reconciliations, payment schedules and credit accounts.
• Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment allocation, reconciliations, aged receivables and overdue follow-up.
• Process fortnightly Australian payroll, including deductions, PAYG withholding, leave accruals, superannuation, STP reporting and ledger reconciliation.
• Prepare GST reconciliations, BAS workpapers and PAYG withholding information for external accountant or tax-agent review and lodgement.
• Monitor inventory, stock movement, stock costs, landed costs, inventory levels and slow-moving or excess inventory in MYOB EXO and Shopify.
• Prepare and track purchase orders, supplier pricing, warehouse receipts and supplier invoices; investigate stock and pricing discrepancies.
• Reconcile Shopify sales, payments, refunds, fees and inventory.
• Prepare budgets, cash-flow forecasts, revenue and expense forecasts, inventory purchasing forecasts, payroll forecasts and tax/BAS cash-flow plans.
• Complete month-end reconciliations and prepare financial, inventory, purchasing and budget-versus-actual reports with variance analysis.
• Identify cash-flow, expenditure, inventory and financial-control risks and explain required management action.
• Prepare banking payment templates for director approval while maintaining confidentiality, financial integrity and approval controls.
• Perform other position-level duties as they arise.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• 5-6 years' Australian bookkeeping experience supporting Australian businesses is essential.
• Australian bookkeeping or accounting qualifications or certification are essential.
• Advanced MYOB EXO experience and the ability to operate independently without extensive system training are essential.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations, budget models and large datasets, are essential.
• Strong practical knowledge of Australian accounting practices, GST, BAS, PAYG, payroll, superannuation and STP requirements is essential.
• Demonstrated experience managing Australian accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, supplier accounts and 30-day credit terms is essential.
• Demonstrated inventory, purchasing, purchase-order, goods-received and supplier-management experience is essential.
• Experience preparing budgets, cash-flow forecasts, budget-versus-actual analysis and monthly management reports is essential.
• Experience with Xero is highly regarded.
• Experience with Shopify and e-commerce sales, payments, refunds, fees and inventory reconciliation is highly regarded.
• Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to communicate directly with management, suppliers and internal teams are essential.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, financial integrity and discretion when handling confidential information are essential.
• Ability to work autonomously across multiple companies, manage competing priorities and meet Australian deadlines is essential.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, unusual transactions and emerging financial risks and recommend practical corrective action is essential.
• Successful completion of a practical assessment covering MYOB EXO, reconciliations, GST and BAS, payroll, inventory, purchasing, Excel, budgeting and forecasting is required.
