Commercial Masonry Estimator

About the role

• Own the complete estimation cycle from reviewing drawings and performing quantity takeoffs to gathering vendor pricing and preparing competitive bids
• Review commercial construction plans, specifications, and drawings
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for brick, block, stone, and related masonry scopes
• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and bids
• Develop clear scope sheets and estimate documentation
• Request and manage quotes from vendors and subcontractors
• Compare pricing and coordinate RFQs with trade partners
• Review design revisions and update estimates accordingly
• Support RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation
• Communicate with project teams, vendors, and clients as needed
• Participate in daily or weekly planning calls
• Provide clear updates on estimating progress and project status
• Work with field teams to clarify scope, quantities, and pricing
• Maintain organized and accurate estimating records
• Learn and become proficient in the company's Tradesman estimating platform
• Ensure all estimates meet company standards for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness

• 3+ years of direct construction estimating experience, with strong preference for commercial masonry
• Proven experience estimating brick, block, and/or stone projects
• Commercial construction experience is required; residential masonry experience alone is not a fit
• Experience working with or for US-based construction or masonry contractors
• Strong understanding of commercial construction plans, specifications, and scopes
• Fluent English, both written and verbal
• Spanish fluency is highly valued due to the bilingual nature of the team
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Strong communication and follow-through
• Ability to learn new software and cloud-based systems independently
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus but not required
• Experience with Tradesman estimating software is a nice-to-have
• Experience with On-Screen Takeoff, Swift, Sage, AutoCAD, or similar estimating/takeoff platforms is a nice-to-have
• Ability to work full-time Monday–Friday aligned with Eastern Time (±2 hours)
• Independent contractor status, with responsibility for own equipment, taxes, and benefits
