Senior Shopify Developer – Contract Role

• Build and customize Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts, including Online Store 2.0 themes, Liquid templates, sections, blocks, metafields/metaobjects and checkout extensibility
• Build headless storefronts using Storefront API with Hydrogen or Next.js on Oxygen, Vercel or Netlify, and develop Liquid-based Shopify experiences
• Integrate Shopify with Sitecore, Contentstack and Optimizely CMS/DXP platforms
• Develop Shopify apps, Functions, checkout and customer account UI extensions, and Flow automations using Admin GraphQL API, webhooks and Shopify CLI
• Integrate Shopify with ERP, PIM, OMS, CRM, payment, tax, search and marketing platforms through APIs, middleware and event-driven patterns
• Support technical discovery, define data models, and contribute to estimates, technical specifications and risk assessment
• Write clean, tested and documented code; participate in code reviews; and meet Core Web Vitals, WCAG, SEO and security standards
• Partner with QA on test plans and UAT, resolve defects, and support deployments, store migrations and production releases
• Collaborate with Technology Lead, Project Manager, UX/creative and client teams to translate business goals and designs into commerce features
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing and code reviews
• Use AI development tools responsibly to improve engineering velocity and quality
• Contribute technical input to commerce proposals, estimates and solution demos
• Contribute to internal standards, accelerators, reusable Shopify components and integration patterns; stay current on Shopify, headless commerce and AI trends

• 5+ years of hands-on Shopify development experience, including Shopify Plus implementations for mid-market or enterprise brands
• Proven experience integrating Shopify with at least one of Sitecore, Contentstack or Optimizely in headless or composable architectures
• Strong command of Liquid, Online Store 2.0 theme architecture, Shopify CLI and theme/app development workflows
• Hands-on experience with Shopify APIs (Storefront API, Admin GraphQL and REST), webhooks, Shopify Functions and checkout extensibility
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, React and Next.js skills
• Experience with REST/GraphQL API integration, middleware and serverless/edge functions on platforms such as Vercel, Netlify or Oxygen
• Working knowledge of Git-based workflows, CI/CD and Agile/Scrum delivery, including estimation and sprint planning
• Solid grounding in accessibility, SEO, web performance and security best practices for commerce sites
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Hydrogen/Remix experience strongly preferred
• Practical use of AI-based development tools and familiarity with Shopify's AI capabilities preferred as bonus points
• Shopify Partner, Sitecore, Contentstack, Optimizely or Vercel certifications are bonus points
• Agency or consulting experience is a bonus point
