Senior Data Scientist

• Lead data science initiatives across the Document, Accounting, Takeoffs, and Pro Commerce tracks
• Partner with Houzz Pro product managers to define key metrics, measure feature usage, derive insights, and shape product strategies and roadmaps
• Lead complex data science initiatives, including sophisticated analyses, A/B tests, causal inference, and machine learning applications
• Drive adoption of recommendations across teams to improve document, accounting, and related product experiences
• Analyze large, complex datasets and translate findings into narratives and stakeholder dashboards
• Collaborate with data engineering to improve data pipelines, instrumentation, and data quality
• Use AI tools for exploratory analysis, code generation, recurring-report automation, and data science projects
• Frame hypotheses, define success metrics, and lead solutions to ambiguous, open-ended problems
• Communicate results across the organization, including to senior leaders
• Provide technical guidance to junior team members and foster continuous learning

• A B.A./B.S. degree in technical/quantitative disciplines or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years experience with analytics, preferably with a SaaS business
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
• Solid foundation in statistics and experimentation, including A/B test design and causal inference
• Ability to work independently, run projects, host stakeholder meetings, manage senior-leader expectations, and complete projects with minimal supervision
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills at senior leadership levels
• Practical experience working with LLMs, including calling model APIs, writing and iterating prompts, or fine-tuning models
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Product mindset and curiosity about small businesses and home professionals
• Experience using Tableau
• Advanced degree in a technical field such as Statistics, Operations Research or Engineering is ideally desired
• Baseline understanding of US business accounting workflows or ERP integrations such as QuickBooks is ideally desired
• Familiarity with home construction, remodeling, or trade business operations is ideally desired
• Familiarity with evaluating generative AI systems is ideally desired
