Site Reliability Engineer – Observability, Internal Tools

• Take ownership of smartclip’s internal infrastructure
• Develop observability and automation into platform capabilities for engineers
• Drive the development of Prometheus, Grafana, and Forgejo and expand them into a high-quality monitoring ecosystem
• Design meaningful, actionable alerts
• Define SLOs to promote proactive system stability
• Evaluate and implement modern open-source alternatives to proprietary software
• Select technologies for the stack and help shape their integration
• Integrate security engineering into development and delivery processes
• Identify vulnerabilities before penetration testing
• Operate Linux systems and distributed tools while ensuring a stable production environment

• Demonstrable experience implementing metrics, logs, and traces
• Ability to derive concrete, actionable insights from large volumes of data and signals
• Proficiency with Linux systems and distributed tools
• Understanding of how distributed systems communicate and fail
• Experience with infrastructure automation through code
• Ownership mindset and a “you build it, you run it” philosophy
• Hands-on experience with GCP or AWS in production and at scale (nice to have)
• Active engagement in the open-source community or a portfolio of self-hosted projects (nice to have)
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Berlin for workshops, team sessions, and collaboration, as well as to team events in Germany
• Portfolio, side project, or demo repository showcasing your technical approach is desirable
