Bookkeeper

• Process transactions and reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts accurately
• Code transactions correctly for Australian GST, including GST-free items
• Process weekly payroll accurately and meet deadlines, including Monday payroll before 2:00 PM AEST
• Prepare BAS and IAS workpapers for review by the accounting team
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier bills, invoices, and debtor follow-ups
• Communicate with clients to request information and clarify bookkeeping requirements
• Prepare month-end and quarter-end reports
• Maintain organised client records
• Document processes and client notes to support team collaboration
• Track time accurately against client jobs for billing purposes
• Manage a portfolio of Australian small business clients
• Align with AU business hours, approximately 9 AM–5 PM Monday to Friday, for collaboration

• Must have at least 2–3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
• Solid grasp of Australian GST, including researching and confirming whether an item is GST or GST-free
• Experience processing weekly payroll and meeting strict deadlines
• STP and superannuation experience is an advantage
• Proficiency in cloud accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks Online
• Strong written and spoken English
• Ability to explain bookkeeping matters to clients in a friendly, easy-to-understand way
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management
• Reliable home office setup with stable internet and backup power and connectivity
• Experience working with Australian accounting firms or Australian small business clients
• Experience managing multiple client accounts, particularly in healthcare, construction, or e-commerce
• Familiarity with Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), PAYG, and Australian payroll awards
• Must disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
