Team Lead, Android Core Product

• Own major features end to end, working closely with the design team from decision through release
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and provide useful feedback
• Unblock engineers by investigating and resolving obstacles
• Identify reusable implementations and consolidate shared components
• Keep shared code tested, clear, maintained, and consolidated
• Drive changes to team processes
• Reduce manual intervention required for correct releases
• Address recurring problems through underlying setup changes
• Expand automated verification and shift testing earlier in the development process
• Run planning and prioritize work requiring decisions
• Define review requirements and approval ownership
• Participate in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions and communicate team constraints
• Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA
• Support early-career engineers with meaningful work and learning time
• Write and review code while remaining hands-on

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on
• Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work
• Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them
• Experience introducing processes or practices that remain adopted by a team
• Comfort asking people to change how they work and managing resulting friction
• Ability to determine which changes need heavy review and which do not
• Track record of building things used by the rest of the team
• Ability to describe how the team works with AI agents
• Product design intuition, user empathy, and drive to improve Android UI/UX
• Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the specification
• Excellent communication skills
• Open source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS experience are bonuses
