Mainframe Engineer

• Manage and administer test and system environments in the mainframe/z/OS environment
• Ensure stable operations and support daily batch processing
• Analyze technical incidents in 2nd- and 3rd-level support
• Perform root-cause analysis and develop sustainable solutions
• Optimize and automate recurring installation and operational processes using scripting
• Work with z/OS, JCL, DB2, and other mainframe technologies
• Collaborate with internal teams as well as external partners and service providers on technical issues and incidents
• Coordinate the resolution process
• Serve as an interface between Development, DevOps, Operations, and other IT departments
• Continuously improve technical workflows and processes

• Several years of practical professional experience in a mainframe/host environment
• Practical experience with z/OS and JCL
• Experience with DB2 and SQL
• Experience analyzing and resolving technical incidents, ideally in 2nd-level support
• Knowledge of batch processing, TWS, and/or REXX is an advantage
• Experience with scripting and automation is an additional plus
• Ability to analyze technical problems in a structured manner
• Independent and reliable working style
• Excellent German skills
• Good English skills
