Senior Software Engineer

• Design, build, and scale a Fleet Operations Platform for thousands of compute machines and millions of customer workloads
• Provide technical expertise and leadership for the team
• Work on software running on hosts in Akamai data centers
• Continuously improve internal processes and systems
• Develop thorough, largely automated functional and regression test suites for fault tolerance and error handling
• Troubleshoot upgrade failures, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and resolve edge cases across the hypervisor and Linux host stack

• Extensive, relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• Proficiency in Python or Go for backend automation
• Experience with REST APIs and CLI scripting
• SQL database experience for state and metadata tracking
• Experience designing, building, and scaling microservices architectures in production environments
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems, virtualization, KVM, and live migrations
• Experience evaluating data using statistics
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to discuss abstract software architectures from ideas through implementation
• Ability to creatively apply domain experience to solve technical challenges
• Ability to collaborate and perform joint problem-solving within an agile/Scrum environment
