Database Reliability Engineer – Core Team

• Build and lead processes to ensure and improve ClickHouse reliability, availability, scalability, and performance
• Collaborate with Control Plane, Dataplane, Security, Support, and Operations teams
• Guide teams in implementing ClickHouse effectively for customers
• Manage engineering escalation processes and response
• Investigate reliability and performance issues
• Conduct blameless postmortems and post-mortem analysis
• Continuously improve how ClickHouse is operated and optimized in the cloud
• Improve ClickHouse Core reliability and performance
• Create and improve metrics and alerts to identify and prevent production problems
• Investigate common customer problems, identify root causes, submit bug fixes and issue reports, and suggest improvements
• Enhance incident response and post-mortem processes for ClickHouse Core outages
• Coordinate with Support and Cloud teams to communicate with impacted customers
• Plan and drive chaos initiatives across Engineering teams
• Manage on-call processes and escalation best practices to minimize customer impact

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in Reliability Engineering, QA, or customer-facing engineering
• Previous experience operating ClickHouse or other SQL databases in production
• Excellent understanding of distributed database internals and SQL; ClickHouse expertise is a major plus
• Scripting experience with Shell or Python
• Ability to read and understand C++ code
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Strong problem-solving and production debugging skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a global team
• High level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability
