Software Engineering Manager

• Lead cross-functional delivery teams of 4–5 engineers
• Report to the Head of Engineering
• Own delivery and people outcomes for the team
• Create concrete growth plans for every individual contributor
• Ensure the team ships on cadence with predictable quality
• Surface risks early, manage scope, and maintain commitments
• Address team conflict directly and manage underperformance through a clear process
• Protect and develop top performers
• Partner with Product, Design, and other engineering teams
• Provide technical direction on system design and architectural risks
• Introduce AI tools and workflows for code review, documentation, sprint planning, and debugging
• Develop engineering leadership depth as the organization scales
• Manage distributed teams across time zones and countries through async communication, remote 1:1s, and distributed sprint ceremonies
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery from estimation through release
• Balance business value and technical soundness in tradeoff decisions
• Improve delivery velocity and predictability
• Drive measurable AI adoption while maintaining quality
• Establish documented growth plans within 60 days and committed-scope delivery cadence within 90 days
• Monitor retention risks and address underperformance directly
• Build trust in team commitments through reliable execution

• Deep AI integration in engineering workflows, including tools such as Claude, Copilot, and AI-assisted code review
• Experience creating AI workflows, prompts, or leading AI-tool adoption in development processes
• Experience building concrete career growth plans and managing underperformance through a structured process
• Previous leadership of fully remote teams as a default operating model
• Experience with async decision-making and distributed team management
• Direct and effective conflict resolution
• Ability to track and use velocity, retention risk, and individual-contributor growth metrics
• Technical credibility, including code reviews, architectural input, and debugging
• Delegation and coaching skills; ability to avoid becoming a decision bottleneck
• Commitment to people leadership as a primary craft

• Ability to work as a contractor
