Senior Backend Engineer – AI Agents

• Develop autonomous inbox agents that respond to new ticket events
• Develop agent templates and define when agents should hand off to humans
• Design system prompts, skills, and tool usage for domain-specific understanding
• Improve knowledge base search and design potential AI learning mechanisms
• Develop voice agents powered by LiveKit
• Select suitable LLMs for specific tasks
• Reduce latency through caching and streaming
• Implement robust retry mechanisms for provider outages
• Manage context efficiently and optimize RAG search
• Track cross-provider usage, reduce costs, and conduct evaluations
• Work with TypeScript, Convex, Next.js, React, Tailwind, shadcn/ui, the Vercel AI SDK, and the Convex Agent Component

• Fluent in English and German
• More than 2 years of experience building production-ready agents
• AI-native, with agentic features deployed and relied upon by real users
• Strong opinions on retrieval, evaluations, tool design, and the limitations of today’s leading models
• Primarily a builder, with a willingness to ship fast, rough v1 versions
• Up to date on new AI models and research
• Write almost all code with AI
• Comfortable working autonomously and taking full ownership
• Perform effectively under pressure
• Fast learner with a generalist mindset
• Willing to work with a TypeScript-based stack; experience with the existing tech stack is not essential
