Senior Backend Engineer

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Node.js
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate backend services with databases and external systems
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and efficient code following industry best practices
• Implement secure and high-performance backend solutions
• Write automated unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability
• Participate in code reviews and follow continuous integration and continuous delivery practices
• Contribute to application architecture and technical design discussions
• Work with relational databases, optimize queries, and ensure efficient data management
• Troubleshoot backend issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions
• Work within a global enterprise technology team and report to the Team Manager

• 3–4 years of hands-on experience in backend development using Node.js
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and Node.js fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases, data modelling, and query optimization
• Strong fundamentals in object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
• Experience writing automated unit tests using Jest, Mocha, or equivalent frameworks
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, error handling, and backend application security
• Ability to write clean, modular, reusable, and testable code
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within an Agile team
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Exposure to Docker, containerization, and cloud-based application deployment
• Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Agile engineering practices
• Familiarity with caching, message queues, application monitoring, and performance optimization
