Senior Backend Engineer – Platform, Reliability

• Own Azure infrastructure end-to-end, including deployment, architecture, services and costs
• Tighten existing infrastructure and codify new infrastructure
• Maintain a simple architecture based on managed services
• Build observability across services and third-party APIs using metrics, logs, traces and alerts
• Define platform health criteria and build dashboards
• Set up alerting and on-call processes to identify problems before clients do
• Diagnose production latency, timeouts and dependency failures
• Harden the platform and improve security and reliability
• Establish incident response and SLA practices
• Maintain audit readiness for certifications such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001
• Ship product features and integrations with the engineering team
• Provide production debugging support
• Mentor engineers and improve team practices for operating the platform
• Work directly with the CTO and wider founder team

• 5+ years building and running backend services in production, including real ownership of infrastructure, deployments and incidents
• Experience chasing down latency spikes, timeouts and flaky dependencies and identifying root causes
• Solid hands-on experience running production workloads on Azure
• Experience instrumenting services with tracing, structured logging and metrics, ideally with OpenTelemetry or similar
• Infrastructure-as-code mindset; codify infrastructure rather than clicking through consoles
• Security-by-default mindset covering secrets, access management and compliance
• Comfortable writing production code in TypeScript/Node.js
• Pragmatic approach to choosing simple, effective setups
• Enjoys mentoring less experienced engineers and setting platform operating standards
